August in Drum & Bass: Pendulum drop first album in 15 years, Rudimental return and more

August brought several bookmark-worthy moments to the DnB world—from big comebacks to new series and a salute to one of the genre’s most essential albums.

Pendulum — Inertia is out now

Australia’s Pendulum today released Inertia, their first full-length since 2010. The sixteen tracks, led by Rob Swire and Owen Charles, blend electronic rock and drum & bass, with guest spots from Bullet For My Valentine, WARGASM, AWOLNATION, Scarlxrd, and Hybrid Minds. Rolling Stone AU/NZ calls it “the first fully fledged album in 15 years” and includes a quote from Swire about chasing a contemporary sound for the band.

The power of the new material was underscored by a colossal show at Milton Keynes Bowl (9 Aug) for tens of thousands of fans—according to The Times, it was a blistering return with massive production and a set spanning both old and new material.

Rudimental — fifth LP
RUDIM3NTAL

London outfit Rudimental also release their fifth album, RUDIM3NTAL, today. The announcement arrived with the single “Back To Me” featuring Jess Glynne and details of a host of collaborators across the scene; Clash confirmed the 22 Aug date and noted that much of the record was crafted in the group’s East London base. Frontview Magazine adds that the album leans into liquid-tinged production and bridges DnB with pop-leaning vocals.

Fabric Records revive FABRICLIVE — Pola & Bryson open the series

Legendary London club and label fabric launch a new era of compilations, “FABRICLIVE presents,” with opening duties handled by duo Pola & Bryson. Beatportal points out it’s a tribute to the cult series that defined UK bass from 2001–2018; the first volume includes their collaboration with Emily Makis and a selection spanning liquid and rollers.

V Recordings launch mentoring for young jungle/DnB talent

Pioneering V Recordings (Bryan Gee & Jumpin’ Jack Frost) have unveiled V Legacy, a six-month accelerator for ten creators (ages 18–25) focused on mentoring, networking, and practical skills. DJ Mag details the goal: to “fast-track careers” for emerging producers from diverse communities.

Goldie reissues Timeless for its 30th anniversary

Goldie’s classic Timeless returns in a jubilee edition: newly remastered 2×LP (white or “gold-on-clear”) and limited hand-pressed versions in partnership with The Vinyl Factory and Grooverider. Ten percent of proceeds will go to War Child. The full reissue lands 7 Nov, with limited pre-orders open from 8 Aug, as reported by DJ Mag.

Documentary
WORSHIP: Mission America and the DnB boom in the US

Beatportal charts the current surge of drum & bass interest in North America with the new documentary WORSHIP: Mission America (covering the WORSHIP collective tour with Sub Focus, Dimension, Culture Shock, and 1991). The film captures audiences that are no longer “niche,” spilling into main halls and major promoters.
